Summary: Shown by ChallengingMedia, this clip critically examines post-Title IX media by discussing the difference in the coverage of female vs. male athletes. While female athleticism challenges gender norms, female athletes continue to be depicted in traditional roles that reaffirm their femininity as wives, mothers, or sex objects. Yet, male athletes are shown in a heroic light illustrating their courage, strength, and endurance.

In addition to media representation during the post-Title IX period, consider another problem with gender and sports. Under Title IX, some schools are actually classifying men as women to meet their legal requirements. The New York Times reports on it in this video:

Great analysis of female participation in HS sports in the US, including their progress over the last 40 years: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/flatpages/sports/40-years-title-ix-graphics.html
